Fighting the Crocodile You Don’t See.

Name: Alexander

Interests: Video games, Legos, baseball, art/drawing and anime.

Diagnosis: Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

Cap Hero: Jeremy Wade

Ever since he was little, River Monsters has been one of Alex’s favorite shows. He has always loved watching it with his father and continues to watch reruns. To say he was happy to get his cap signed by extreme angler and biologist Jeremy Wade would be an understatement.

Wade once said, “It’s always the crocodile you don’t see you have to worry about.” In Alexander’s case, the crocodile turned out to be cancer. Still, Alex is a quiet, loving, caring North Carolina teen who never complains about anything. In fact, he’s always watching out for others and helping when he can.

Throughout his illness, Alex has never lost hope. His mother says he hasn’t complained once while going through treatment or dealing with its lasting effects. He continues to go to school and play baseball. We can just see him on the field in his signed cap.

“Alex is the strongest person I know. He has always been a happy person and continues to show his strength every day.” – Alexander’s mom
